2018년 2월 27일, 유럽위원회는 부식억제제로서의 중크롬산나트륨 사용 허가 결정을 발표하였음

이번 부식억제제로서의 중크롬산나트륨 사용 허가 신청은 Total Raffinerie Mitteldeutschlan에 의해 이루어졌으며,

유럽위원회는 중크롬산나트륨의 사회경제적 이득이 인체에 대한 위험보다 크고 이에 대한 대체물질 또는 대체기술이 없다는 근거로 사용을 허가하였음. 허가만료일은 2029년 9월 21일 임

올해 2월 초 유럽위원회는 중크롬산나트륨의 세가지 용도에 대한 신청을 승인한 바 있으며, 2월 19일~20일 진행된

REACH위원회 회의에서 회원국들은 여러 용도로서의 크롬산염 사용을 지지한 바 있음
