2017년 11월 8일, 인도 국립환경공학연구소(National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, NEERI)는

잔류유기오염물질(POPs) 7종 사용 금지에 관한 법률 개정안을 2018 년 중반 내 시행할 예정이라고 밝힘

잔류성유기오염물질 7종 사용 금지에 관한 법률 개정안은 지난 8월 29일 발표되어 30일간 공공의견을 수렴한 바 있음

금지대상 POPs 7종은 아래와 같음

l  chlordecone

l  hexabromobiphenyl

l  hexabromodiphenyl ether and heptabromodiphenyl ether (commercial octa-BDE)

l  tetrabromodiphenyl ether and pentabromodiphenyl ether (commercial penta-BDE)

l  pentachlorobenzene

l  hexabromocyclododecane

l  hexachlorobutadine

동 법안에 따르면, 현재 해당 물질을 다루는 업체는 POP물질 7종의 제조, 사용, 판매 및 수입, 수출에 대한 금지 뿐만 아니라 동 법안이 통과되기 6개월 내에 당국에 고지해야 함 또한, 해당 물질을 유해기타물질규정*에 따라

안전하게 폐기해야 함
